As Croydon prepares to honour the 150th anniversary of composer and conductor Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, two exciting opportunities have opened for Black or Global Majority creatives to contribute to a landmark cultural programme celebrating his life and legacy.

Culture Croydon is looking for:

A graphic designer to create a brand identity and a suite of marketing and promotional materials

10 x Visual or Graphic artists to create artwork for an outdoor exhibition of street banners

Requirements

Graphic Designer for SCT150 Programme Branding

We are seeking a talented graphic designer to develop the visual identity for the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor 150 (SCT150) anniversary programme. The selected designer will create a cohesive brand that will be featured across a wide range of materials, including:

Event marketing assets
Educational resources
Walking trail maps
Outdoor advertising
An exhibition of lamppost banners and hoardings in the town centre

The programme runs from July to December 2025 and includes live music events, school workshops, a museum exhibition (TBC), and a concert by the London Mozart Players. The designer will collaborate closely with the Council’s Culture team and partners to deliver a suite of assets, with a total budget of £11,000 (potentially rising to £15,000 with additional funding).

Artist Commissions for Lamppost Banner Exhibition
We are also commissioning up to 10 UK-based Black or Global Majority artists to create original artworks inspired by Taylor’s life, music and legacy. These works will be displayed on lamppost banners throughout Croydon town centre from August to October 2025.

This opportunity is ideal for practitioners working in fine art, digital art, illustration, photography, or craft. Each selected artist will receive a fee of £1,450 for one artwork, with the possibility of creating a second piece if fewer than 10 artists are appointed.
